Crystal George | Lynchburg Portrait Photographer

Meet my new friend, Crystal. Crystal has been a photographer here in Lynchburg for quite some time. While I had heard of her and seen her work, we had never connected before a few months ago. Enter Hill City Bride and the style shoot. Crystal came on as a part of the project management team when we were in need of someone who could draw (very) well. Crystal is an artist through and through, in fact she used to paint portraits before she was a photographer. I love that she was simply moving from one art medium to another when she decided to start shooting professionally. It is one of the things I respect about her (of many).

We got together a few weeks ago to shoot some new headshots. Below are a few of my favorites from our quick session together. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. :)

You can check out some of the pictures she took of me over on her blog.

I love her messy hair in that last pic!

Sneak Peek: Megan & Trevor | Northern Virginia Wedding Photographer

Here's a quick sneak peek to hold over this adorable couple while I finish up processing their wedding. Stay tuned for a more in depth blog post about these two, including our top ten favorite things about their wedding day!

little miracle | King George Child Photographer

This little angel has come a long way since his birth at a tiny 2lbs. His loving parents cared for and nurtured him for a long time before inviting a stranger to come take pictures of him. :) His momma and I have been talking about meeting up for a session for months and we finally were able to make it happen. The session was quick and easy... and such a pleasure! Little Stevie's demeanor was adorably sweet and energetic. I really enjoy witnessing children this age explore and discover. Spending just an hour with him inspired me to stop and take a longer look at the things that seem so ordinary in life... things that truly are little miracles of their own. We can learn SO much from children, eh?

Anyway... moving on... here are just a few of my favs from this session. Check out his little curls!

Be Thou My Vision | Photographer Retreat

Last week I was out of the office for a few days. I went to Bend, Oregon for a 3-day retreat with a small group of other women photographers. The experience was not what I expected - but a definite blessing. We were pampered, prayed for and loved. Those few days changed me, and though sometimes change is not easy, this time it was necessary and good. Here are a few pictures from my new friend Patti. I took some photos (as you will see) and have yet to download them from my camera. But Patti's photos definitely do the place much more justice than mine. :)

The accommodations were shared. However, since there were an odd number of attendees, one of us got our own room. Go figure I was the one who got my own cabin. I was a little confused about why it worked out that way - since I am alone all the time anyway and there were moms on this trip seeking a place to retreat. But, I didn't complain. :) Here are a few pictures of the cabins we stayed in for the retreat:

In the second picture below, do you see the small silver circle on the ceiling above the bathtub? That is the water spout. Yes... the bath tub filled up from the ceiling. So neat!

Just a glimpse of our catered meals. The resort took (very good) care of us each morning and evening.  This is our evening waitress, Emily. She was one of the best servers I've ever had. We loved her so much we left her a card at the end of the retreat. :)

Dessert was served in the sitting area and we ate it during each evening session:

This right here about sums up quiet time:

And... the beautiful view there in Bend, Oregon:

Angie & Chad | Fredericksburg Wedding Photographer

While taking a short rest during their reception, I overheard a wedding guest say "He really is a great guy. He totally deserves someone like Angie." Ya'll, that statement right there completely sums up this couple. Good Great people. Totally, completely, utterly in love. Angie was glowing from head to toe all day and Chad couldn't keep his eyes off of her. Yet, somehow, they managed to make their day about their family and friends. They spent their reception celebrating, loving, and thanking all of the people who have watched them grow up and grow together. It was joyful.

My sister and I, along with the lovely Rachel Clarke, all had an absolutely wonderful time at this wedding. It was beautiful and truly full of joy. I am so excited for Angie and Chad and am actually a little bit sad that it's all over. But hopefully I will see them again in the future for some fun family sessions. :)

Here's a sneak peek of their most lovely day:

I love this one that Rachel captured:

Another great one by Rachel:
