Fall Mini Sessions | Lynchburg Family Portraits

It's that time of year again to start coordinating the Fall Mini Portrait Sessions! I know it seems a little early to be thinking about holiday portraits - but my schedule is filling up quickly so I wanted to get this info out as soon as possible. I did send this info out a week ago to those who are subscribed to my Mailing List and since then I have filled all but three of the sessions. If you are interested in booking a mini session this year, please contact me as soon as possible! As a quick reminder, here are the details:

Housekeeping! | Business News

Soooooo big news! My husband is on his way home!! I. Am. So. Excited! This news means my office schedule will be a bit quirky for the next few weeks. I wanted to get some dates out there for you guys because my fall calendar is juuust about full. Between engagement sessions and family portraits I have few available days left. I feel so blessed that this year has been packed with weddings and sessions and it looks like 2011 is shaping up to be the same. Sometimes I still cannot believe this is my full time job! Love it!

That said... here are a few dates that you will want to keep in mind if you are interested in booking a session with Sincerely, Liz: Photography this fall:

For a full session (1-2hrs) these are my only weekend days available for 2010:

October 17 4:00pm November 7 3:30pm November 14 3:00pm

For those of you interested in the annual Fall Mini Session dates, they will be:

October 31, 2010 in Lynchburg, VA November 6, 2010 in Fredericksburg, VA

I'll be posting some more information about the 2010 Fall Mini Sessions in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for that.

Also, for those brides out there who are thinking about booking SLP for their 2011 wedding, book fast! I have only three dates left for the months of May and June!

And... another favorite from the beautiful wedding of Andrew and Erin. :)

Happy 4th of July! | Operation: Love ReUnited

Happy 4th of July!

Today is one of my FAVORITE holidays... I love everything about today. The summer activities, the fireworks, the cheesy attire I can get away with wearing once a year, the hot dogs and picnic blankets and bluegrass concerts! (I know, that's random... but for some reason I hear more bluegrass music played on this holiday than any other.) My family and I celebrated the holiday yesterday at a local festival. I am getting ready to head out here in a bit to go enjoy a big family cook-out with my sister and her kiddos, also. So fun!

I just wanted to take a moment real quick and draw attention to an organization I am proud to be a part of. I have been a vounteer photographer for Operation: Love ReUnited for over a year now and it has been such an awesome experience. This organization brings together photographers who are willing to donate their time and talents to give back to the troops and their families. If you or someone you know has a loved one that is deployed (or is getting read to deploy), you may qualify for up to two free professional photo sessions! This is a great way for photographers everywhere to give back to those who sacrifice so much for us.

Check out my website here for more information, or click over to the OP: Love website to find a photographer near you!

If you are a photographer and you are interested in getting involved, click here for more information.

Yay! I am so proud to be an American! Happy 4th of July, ya'll!

p.s. I miss you, Tommy!

I hope you all know what a blessing you have been to me! Thank you for your support and encouragement, I honestly couldn't do this without you.

A Sailor's Delight | Lynchburg Landscape Photographer

When I was in the fifth grade my class was assigned a project on clouds. We could choose our specific projects but the goal was to identify the types of clouds in the sky over a period of about five to ten days. Like any natural procrastinator, I took all of my photos on the last two days of the project and threw them together as if my teacher would have no clue that my photos depicted an entirely different weather pattern then the rest of my classmates. (Who all lived in the same 20mi radius, mind you.)

Now, I was never actually held accountible for that bad decision of mine, but apparently it has stuck with me all these years and I think I still feel a little guilty for it. I digress. Guilt is not the only thing the project gave to me that has stayed with me all these years. Ever since that fifth grade lesson on clouds and meteorology I have had a lovely fascination with the sky. Not that you would know anything about that, because I don't think I have ever posted a single photo I have taken of the sky.

The truth is, I am super intimidated by nature photography. I feel like there is no way my photo could ever do the beauty of this earth justice. Especially because to even get close to the real thing, I would have to do a whole heck of a lot of photoshopping. And it's just not the same to me.

But I love the sky. I do. I am always looking up when I am outside. I love when the sunlight sparkles through the trees. Or when rays shine through fluffy clouds and give me a glimpse of my idea of heaven. Or when there is that one last little layer of pink across the sky over in the west as the sun sets. Oh... the pink sky at night... my dad taught me a little sailor rhyme when I was a small girl and I still repeat it in my head as I look at those pink skies. "A pink sky at night is a sailor's delight... a pink sky in morning, sailor take warning!" Pink skies in the morning are rare, though. At least rare for me to recognize. I only know that because it is very rare for me to end that little rhyme with a thought of "uh oh." :)

I want to take more photos of the sky. I want to push myself to capture what it is that I love, and I love the sky. This is me, pushing past those little fears of mine...
