Gratituesday: Rainy Days

It's a rare day when I am grateful for rain. But for three weeks in a row now it has rained on the day when I needed a break the most. So this week, I want to share how thankful I am for the rain. This is a crazy time of year with my work and Tommy's schedule as well. We've basically just been taking turns single-parenting these past few weeks between the demands of our careers. We're tired. (And I really miss him!) Rain is the best excuse to postpone a session (or in Tommy's case, a long run) and hang out together, curled up on the couch. It's also a good excuse to cancel all of my plans and spend a day catching up on work! Both of which have happened the past few weeks and on Mondays no less.

So this week was an easy one - I'm grateful for the rain at the most perfect time. I took Sunday out yesterday and captured a few quiet moments between showers. She loves being outside so much and I love a happy baby!

Gratituesday is a weekly blog post (that I try to keep up with) I got involved with over here. You should join, too! If you do, be sure to let me know in the comments as I would love to read what you write about.

Pierce and Sarah, pt. II | Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

These two were made for each other. As they say, opposites attract, and Pierce and Sarah are a beautiful example of this. They met and started dating six years prior to their wedding day so they have been through a lot together. Sarah loves Pierce's outgoing personality and her sweet demeanor balances perfectly with his zest for life. Together they LOVE baseball (so much so their cake topper included them wearing Red Sox jerseys!), their sweet dogs, and simply enjoying each other's company. All of this was evident at their wedding between the personal touches throughout the day and the way they enjoyed one another's company during every shared moment. Is there another word for fairytale? Because I feel like I have seriously overused it to describe this wedding. But, you guys, it truly was. The light sparkled perfectly on this couple. There was a horse and carriage... a prince and his princess... love and marriage. Just... perfection.

The rest of their wedding day story unfolds...

Pierce and Sarah, pt. I | Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

Another double wedding post coming right up! Sarah and Pierce had such a beautiful day that I cannot for the life of me narrow down their pictures! I shouldn't be surprised, though. When I first arrived at Glencliff Manor and connected with the coordinator on site there, Teresa, it was a cloudy day. I said something along the lines of "just crossing my fingers for clear sky!" Teresa immediately repsonded "Oh. This is Glencliff, it doesn't rain here. We have had one wedding rained out in 29 years." Well... I am beyond grateful at how right she was. Not only did it NOT rain at all - but the sun came through the clouds as soon as the ceremony started. It was like nature's blessing on the beautiful couple! And seriously, I follow almost all of the local photographers on some sort of social media and while they were all sharing instagrams and sneak peeks of cloudy, rainy wedding days I shared this:

It was truly a dream wedding day and we were honored to be there to capture Pierce and Sarah's beautiful day. Okay, on to the photos!!

Passing time...

This is the time of the year where I am repeatedly caught thinking to myself "How is it Thursday already?!" Or "How is it October already?!" For years I have tried to find a way to control my work load so that it is always at a mangeable state. Especially this year. When I found out we were expecting I wanted my top priority to be learning better time management so that I wouldn't feel like I was continually making Sunday wait on me to finish my work.

Well I have finally let go of my need to completely control my workload and surrendered to the mere fact that there are seasons in this industry. Wedding season, family portrait season, and blogging season (aka the "off season"). Right now all of your photographer friends (because let's face it: we all have a photographer friend) are in the midst of both wedding AND family portrait season. Myself included.

All that to say... sadly, the blog has been neglected. But! The good news is that my daughter has NOT. (Tommy, however, he is being a REALLY good sport these days.) Here are a few sneak peeks I have shared recently on Facebook. If you're not a fan of the SLP Facebook page you are missing out on all this eye candy!

My super cute friend, Crystal George:

My sister and her husband celebrating 10 years of marital bliss: My brother and his sweet girlfriend: One of my favorite (fairytale) weddings to date! More of this wedding hitting the blog tomorrow!

Sarah | Virginia Wedding Photographer

I have been waiting WEEKS to share this beautiful country bridal session with you all. I can't wait anymore, so I am sharing on a Sunday! (A rare weekend post!) Not only is Sarah absolutely stunning, but she has the most gentle demeanor as well. She was a joy to work with as we captured some stunning bridal portraits. The anticipation of her wedding day was thick in the air and as we walked the grounds of Glencliff Manor for the first part of her session I couldn't help but catch the bug! Their wedding last night at Glencliff (and I seriously cannot say enough about the incredible service at this venue!) was just dreamy. A perfect fairytale wedding. I will be sharing a sneak peek of the wedding on Facebook later today - so check the SLP Facebook page in just a little bit! In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite shots from Sarah's country bridal session!
