When Melissa first inquired with me about photographing her elopement at Smith Mountain Lake, I was over the moon excited! My favorite part of photographing weddings is meeting the couples and getting a front row seat to their special day. So to think I would be one of the only persons present for this front row seat was such a huge honor to me!
I spent about two hours with Tim and Melissa from the finishing touches of getting ready through their sweet ceremony and then finishing up with a few portraits. After the ceremony, they sent out announcement cards complimented by a long letter to tell their friends and family the reasoning behind their choice to elope and all the details of the day. Here’s a teeny, tiny snippet of the letter that was sent:
As you can see by our photos - it was simple, it was short, but it was sweet for certain. We got married, took some photos, danced to Van Morrison's Into the Mystic on Tim's Bluetooth floating speaker, we went paddle boarding, jumped in a lake fully clothed and had caprese salad, cheese and crackers, "Snappy Griller" hot dogs from Syracuse and Blonde Hunny Ale from a Virginia Brewery for dinner. Oh and least we not forget the champagne toast and Oreo Cookie ice cream Sandwiches that served as our wedding cake.
It was perfect.
If you couldn’t tell already, it bears stating that this was a wonderful couple of hours and my complete honor to have been the one to capture it all.
