Liz Cook is an accomplished artist and professional photographer specializing in capturing the authentic connections and emotions that define relationships. Based in Central Virginia, Liz has spent over 18 years documenting life’s most intimate and meaningful moments, from weddings and births to family portraits. Her intuitive approach and creative perspective allow her to connect deeply with her subjects, resulting in a portfolio brimming with timeless, heartfelt imagery.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Graphic Design, Liz's passion for storytelling is evident in her focus on the tender bonds between parents and children, couples, and families. Since beginning her photography career in 2006, she has photographed hundreds of weddings and more than 100 birth stories, becoming a trusted name for families across the country. Her work has been published in prestigious outlets such as The New York Times, People Magazine, O "Oprah" Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Essence Magazine.
Liz is dedicated to professional growth and has honed her skills through numerous workshops and certifications, including becoming a Certified Professional Birth Photographer in 2020. She served as Owner and Executive Director of the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers from 2019-2024 and founded both Virginia Birth Photographers in 2014 and Every Birth Photographer in 2016. Additionally, she holds multiple doula certifications, further enriching her ability to support families during pivotal life moments.
Beyond photography, Liz is a proud advocate for maternal health. From 2011 to 2019, she volunteered with The Motherhood Collective, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women from preconception through postpartum. Whether mentoring fellow entrepreneurs, volunteering, or enjoying life with her husband and three children, Liz remains passionate about capturing love and celebrating life.
