sweet love | Fredericksburg Wedding Photographer

Samantha contacted me last fall to schedule an engagement session and between the busy fall portrait season and the holidays, we were unable to make it happen during that time. Fortunately, she contacted me again a few weeks ago to try again to schedule a session and this time we were able to do it! Samantha and Scott were wonderful models - easy going and relaxed in front of the camera. Beautiful, relaxed and happy subjects always make great portraits, and I am happy to report that I absolutely LOVE the way their session came out. They brought their baby girl, Daisy, along and she couldn't have been better behaved. I was continually impressed by her eagerness to please and obey (especially considering I'm in the process of trying to train my own dogs and it is soooo not easy!) and also how she would just sit off to the side and wait patiently while I took photos of Samantha and Scott alone! I loved having her around and hope to get to hang out with her again sometime in the future!

Without further ado...

I wish you all the best as you get married in Illinois later this year!

family of models | Fredericksburg Portrait Photographer

You probably recognize this momma from some of her previous sessions with me. She originally booked a Baby's First Year plan with me but has since started pursuing a photography career of her own. Needless to say, her baby boy has become her little model and she no longer needs to pay someone else to take more photos of just him. However, she remained committed to the sessions she previously booked with me and we took this opportunity to approach this particular session as a family session instead so that I could get some great shots of the whole family together. As all photographers know, we are always the last to have our own family portraits taken. I was more than happy to adjust our original plan to what worked best for Samantha and her family. I love every time we get together. Being able to see Cohen grow has been such a joy. Not to mention, this family makes my job SO easy with their beauty - seriously! Here are some of my favorite images from their session.

I have been drowning in work for the past few weeks, editing, designing and processing client orders. Something had to give - and of course this time it was the blog. But I am finally catching up and I have a whole slew of sessions to start posting here. So look forward to some new eye candy coming your way! We'll start with this absolutely precious baby boy. His momma and I were co-workers a few years back at Liberty University and since I left my job there I had only seen her a handful of times. Sadly, this was the first time I met her baby boy, but I absolutely enjoyed the time we did spend together! His face lit up as soon as he saw me and I credit that 100% to the grace of God. Let me explain! I was a little bit nervous driving to this session as he is the oldest "baby" I have ever photographed. My plan was to approach his mom and catch up with her for a bit before even pulling out my camera. But, I didn't even make it to her before he was running straight to greet me. Perfect! I just let him do his thing - and I hung out and captured his activity as it unfolded. Exploring, discovering, and even a little bit of flirting. He was so easy to photograph and I am so grateful!

Here are a few of my favorite images from his session:

David & Savannah | Lynchburg Engagement Photographer

I know I gave a little sneak peek a few weeks ago, but I wanted to share the rest of this fun engagement session. When I asked these two what they enjoyed doing together they immediately answered "cook and take our dogs to the dog park." Well, that's easy! We decided to have them cook a fun meal (note to self: don't ever go to an engagement session [with food] on an empty stomach again!) and then head out to the back yard for some play time with their pups. I love that their session incorporated so much of their personalities and hobbies. This is something I really would like to start doing with all of my couples.

We started in their adorable vintage-style kitchen:

Seriously, guys. He adores her:

I know it looks like they were doing a lot of flirting and kissing (they were!), but they really were cooking something delicious, too! Here's some proof:

And then, they made a date of it in their (full of light) dining room. Pour some wine and feed each other! Now that's romantic. ;)

Then we headed outside for some more fun portraits. Some with and some without the doggies.

This was so much fun! I can't wait until their wedding in June, I know it's going to be such a great celebration of their love for each other. :)

Sneak Peek: Paul & Kimberly Pt. II | Northern Virginia Wedding Photographer

There was no way I could keep these amazing reception dance photos to myself. Paul and Kimberly had one of the most adorable first dances I have had the opportunity to witness. There were spins and dips and kisses galore. I couldn't choose my favorite, so instead, I am dedicating a whole blog entry to their first dance. Seriously, how cute are they?!

Oh, guys, this was far from the end of the evening. :) More to come!
