Baby S | Lynchburg Birth Photographer

Earlier this week I had the honor of witnessing new life enter this world. This never, ever gets old. Birth photography is definitely my favorite type of photography and I'm not afraid to say it. These moments are irreplaceable... they are truly moments you can never get back. To be able to capture them is something I don't take lightly. I know - all moments are irreplaceable. But there's just something about new life… that first breath... the first mama/baby touch. All of it. (sigh)

Emily is a rockstar. She endured a 46hour labor and delivered her sweet girl completely naturally. I am awed by her strength and endurance.

Look at these precious moments...!

Soon after she was born, their sweet girl started showing signs of respiratory problems. She was checked into the NICU later that night and Emily has not been able to hold her or breastfeed her since then. I am asking for your prayers for baby S. If you would so kindly, these are her mama's own words:

1. That S would continue to progress and get better! This is huge and so important to us. We hate seeing our little girl hurting and it's incredibly hard to not be able to hold her (while on oxygen she cannot be moved) and for me to not breastfeed her.

2. That S would improve to the point that she can be discharged on Sunday (or Monday morning -- not sure exactly of the timeline) and will not have to stay for a week of antibiotics treatment (this is a situation the staff has already presented to us as necessary if her tests still show signs of infection after the 48 hour treatment).

3. Finally, that no additional issues would arise.

Thank you SO much! I will keep you all posted on her progress!

Macie Baby | Lynchburg Newborn Photographer

Words cannot describe how happy I get when a friend tells me that she is pregnant. Now that I have been there and done that, I really understand it. And I LOVE to be able to connect with my friends through our journeys of motherhood. Of course Mollie is no different. Here are a few pictures of our little newborn session we did in their home. I took a different spin on this newborn session than I have with sessions in the past. I wanted an organic feel... I wanted to capture Macie's little life as it really happens every day. I love that now Mollie has professional pictures of Macie in and around their home and especially in her nursery that they put a lot of TLC into.

If you missed it, check out their maternity pictures here!

About a year ago I found myself sitting on my couch talking to Jimmy about babies. That was the last conversation I expected to have when I woke up that morning. But he had major baby fever and I found it so adorable. It's not every day a pregnant lady gets to chat it up with a man that has baby fever. :) So a few months later when Emily and Jimmy told us they were expecting, I was not as surprised as I was excited. (But I was REALLY excited!) Emily has affectionately named the little girl growing in her belly "Jellybean." They are officially past their due date, but are waiting oh so patiently for little Jellybean to make her appearance. Actually, Emily has totally impressed me with her good attitude, steady emotions, and positivity throughout her entire pregnancy. She is just glowing and she makes pregnancy look like a walk in the park. Even better, really. She almost makes me miss it. (But not quite ;))

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from their mini maternity session a few weeks ago. I can't wait to meet this blessed little girl!

I drove across the state yesterday to visit with my dear friend and brand new mama, Mollie. Mollie and I go way back (college roommates) and in recent years I had the pleasure of taking her engagement pictures, was honored to be the Matron of Honor in her and Mark's wedding, took her bridal portraits and shot a fun night session with the two of them as newlyweds. I LOVE taking pictures of these two - they are so fun loving and flirty on camera! So I'm sitting here on their couch chatting away when I realized... I never blogged the maternity pictures I took of them earlier this year! Ahhh... mommy brain! Lucky for me Mollie is a little sleep deprived so she's catching a cat nap right now. I thought I'd take a minute and post a few pictures from their maternity session.

Here are a few of my favorites. Stay tuned... I'll be capturing little Miss Macie on camera while I'm here this week and I'm sure I'll share a few of my favorite shots.

For now... here's the sweet and flirty Mark & Mollie...!

Back when it was still chilly outside, I did a little playing here and there to test out my work load versus new mama schedule. This was one of the fun sessions I had the pleasure of shooting during that time. It was so nice to get out of the house for the weekend and I was able to grab a few sweet moments of my friend Megan and her little boy, Eli. He's looking so teeny in these photos though, since he's almost 9 months old now!
