Chris & Kimberly

Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

When Kimberly reached out to me about photographing her wedding at Sweet Briar College (with the reception at Timberlake Tavern), the first thing she said was “we are having a small, intimate wedding with close friends and family.” Immediately I was eager to hear more! If you have been following my work for a while, you know I LOVE to capture intimate moments so just her use of the word in her initial email set my heart a flutter! It is always an honor to be one of the few invited to be present during such a special day, let alone be the one asked to photograph it all!

After a series of emails, I met up with Kimberly and Chris for their engagement session at Sweet Briar College. Fun fact: I was married at the same location as these two, which also made my experience with them that much better! We explored the grounds a bit, including taking photographs near the chapel and driving down to the beautiful on-campus lake as well. We chatted all about wedding plans and life plans and we just had a fun time hanging out!

I love sharing the stories of how my couples met because it helps you all know them better, too! Below is Kimberly’s account of how they met and fell in love… I think pictures are so much better with a story behind them. :)

We were taking anatomy and physiology together at CVCC. He sat in the front, I sat in the back, and I was always late. I thought he was so handsome! Later that year, I was working at the hospital as a nursing assistant, and I met Chris, whose grandfather was one of my patients. I told him we had been in class together, thinking he wouldn't know me, but he said "yeah, I know" :) We always said hi and smiled at each other when he came to visit his grandfather. One day, he asked me on a date, but I was dating someone else at the time. We continued to run into each other at the gym. 2.5 years after we first met in class, I messaged him on Facebook to ask if he wanted to go hiking. We hiked Crabtree Falls, then went to dinner at La Carretta and hung out until midnight. He continued to ask me out on dates, but I was hesitant, having recently gotten out of a long-term relationship. He continued to pursue me, and I soon fell head over heels in love with him :)

I love a good guy-chases-girl story, don’t you?! :) And here are a few of my favorite photos from my time with Chris & Kimberly!
